INTENSITY MODULATED RADIOTHERAPY (IMRT)

Radiotherapy is a field in which medical technology plays an important role. With the application of cutting-edge procedures, higher doses of radiation can be administered since the surrounding healthy tissue can be better protected. The result: better chances for recovery, fewer side effects.

IMRT of a patient with head and neck tumor.

The Intensity Modulated Radio Therapy (IMRT) represents this type of procedure. The approach involves a very complex planning and application technique, which enables effective protection of key organs, like the spinal cord, in the example shown above. It thereby does not increase the treatment time for the patient. We treat over 1,000 patients annually with the IMRT technique.
